Fire Still Burns, The
Keeping Hope Alive Blackout! Records
Rating: 2/5

I remember enjoying The Fire Still Burns' 7" (released on Engineer/Koi Records), but I'm not so sure about this Blackout! Records EP. The band seems to have lost their hardcore edge and instead have become a lot more punk-influenced, ending up sounding way too much like Bad Religion. Bad Religion fans can rejoice I suppose, but I'm not much of a fan of BR, so I was a bit disappointed to hear TFSB play like BR on this record.
Anyway, "Keeping Hope Alive" is pretty basic punk rock with a little bit of hardcore thrown in here and there. The guitarwork is pretty intricate for the most part, and the bass isn't too bad either, but don't expect anything too eclectic and outstanding. |
