Ironbound NYC
With A Brick
Thorp Records
Rating: 2/5

In all honesty, here what we have is a band with members of Killing Time, Madball and Sick Of It All, and that could end my review with most of you who read this having a good idea what this sounds like. You know what you're in for here: straight up hardcore, no gimmicks and no bullshit. But the hardcore scene is so filled up at this point with so many bands that aren't bad by any means, but aren't doing anything different or even exceptionally playing the music they love, and that passion alone just isn't enough for me at this point.

The vocals on this, as well as the pretty standard hardcore riffing (though I will commend the band on not throwing in 10000 chug breakdowns ad nauseum just to "bring the mosh") and drumming get the job done, while the lyrics aren't anything to write home about either (lines like "Hit you in the face with a fucking brick" just don't really hit me that hard), though some of the stuff on here isn't hard to relate to subject matter wise.

I mean absolutely no disrespect to the guys in this band because I'm sure they have been playing this style for longer than I've been listening to it, but in all honesty, I've heard this before and I can't point this out as anything exceptional. Unless you're looking for more and more straight up hardcore with some NYC attitude, I wouldn't recommend picking this up.
