Across Tundras
Divides
Feeling Faint
Rating: 4/5

Over my past couple of years doing reviews for Laminated i've gotten the chance to check out quite a few ambient/mostly instrumental bands. While some of them have proven to be interesting, none of them have really grabbed my attention until Across Tundra's debut arrived in the mail for me a few days ago. Much like the two biggest bands in the genre right now, Isis and Pelican, as well as a certain similarity to Mastodon that I can hear. Across Tundras deliver 31 minutes of awesome ambient metal.

The music and sparingly used vocals presented here set up an awesome, almost relaxing soundscape that also wasn't boring by any means, and definitely did not put me to sleep. This kind of music is definitely for the listener more in tune with the music, as you will find no catchy hooks here.

Fans of instrumental, epic metal will love this, and even though the genre is becoming overcrowded, I would put Across Tundra's forth as one of the best I have heard yet.
