Interview by Dustin

Evergreen Terrace just returned from tour and have just released a live/demos album entitled "At Our Worst." I did this email interview with drummer Christopher Brown in September 2004.

First of all, when is a new album of new material finally coming out? Everyone is getting gitty awaiting some new material I think.
We should have a new release out around May of 05. I wish it weren't that far away but we still have a lot of writing to do, and hopefully go into the studio in Jan. We haven't set release date or even a title for the album.

What inspired the idea for you and John to create Hand of Hope records? Will the next album be out on HOH or Eulogy?
John and I basically just wanted to put together another label to be able to release more bands, that we feel should be noticed. No, the next ET album will not be released on HOH.

Why did you guys decide to do the covers album and live/demos album while you write another record? Have people actually gotten mad/frustrated with you guys over this?
We did the cover album for fun. We felt it was something we can put together at a rather fast pace, and allow us to make some extra dough, same thing with the live / demo album. Except for it definitely shows us at our worst, ha. To my knowledge no one has been pissed at us, other than the fact that we dont have a new album out till mid 05.

Is the new material the same old Evergreen we've all come to love, or are you going to be trying something very different?
I would expect the same ET you've come to know, except more mature. We have definitely added more elements to make the heavy parts heavier and the melodic parts catchier. It's good stuff. We're actually playing a new song on tour.

What kind of stuff do you folks do when you're not touring? Do you have any jobs or hobbies?
I help run Hand of Hope Records, Seamless Talent, and Bloodbros Drum Co. and a full time girlfriend. Good stuff. As for the rest of the dudes. They just sit back and chill, something I need to do more of.

What has been in your CD players/iPods lately?
I've been listening to the new 12 Tribes, all of John Mayer, the new 18v, A Life Once Lost, all of Pearl Jam, the new Rise Against, etc. As for the other dudes, I really don't know, cause I tend to sleep when I'm not driving. Oh everyone MUST buy the new Jimmy Eat World when it comes out!! Simply AMAZING!!!

Do you have any opinions on the upcoming election? Would you care to mention who you'll be voting for?
At this point I really don't have much of an opinion. I really don't seem to know much other than the fact that I think Kerry is just as much of an idiot as everyone makes Bush out to be.

P2P filesharing programs seem to be dying out now, except for Soulseek. Do record sales for you seem to be going up or have you never really had any trouble with sales? Any comments on the whole Kazaa thing while it was big?
I really have no clue how it's affected us. We really don't pay too much attention to that sort of stuff. But I'm down for free music.

If you could open for any band in history, who would it be?
Pearl Jam. Thats a no brainer. Best band of all time. I'm sure we would get boo'd off the stage though. But if I were to pick a band that the people might actually like us, I would have to say the Deftones. But, my #1 choice is Pearl Jam.

Thanks for the interview, dude. Sorry the questions weren't great, but I tried to ask some stuff that you don't get asked all the time. Have any last words?
Please check out www.handofhoperecords.com and also buy the new Jimmy Eat World when it comes out!!!
