Riding along with bands

Bafabegiya

So on Monday, my band Ellery was supposed to play a show in Anaheim, CA with some bands. Two of those bands were from Reno, Nevada and they go by the names Bafabegiya and Both Blind (more info here). Ellery didn’t get to play due to the fact that our drummer is in Europe right now for some reason, but I went and saw my friends play some awesome punk rock anyway. The show was rad.

Bafabegiya/Both Blind share some of the same members, and Joe (vocalist from Bafa) brought his girlfriend Mary on tour, so there were only 6 people total and they had nowhere to sleep, so I let them stay at my apartment that night.

The next day I went to lunch with the guys and girl and afterwards we headed to San Diego for their next show. I decided to go with them since they would be coming back to my place that night to stay with us again anyway.

So we are half way to San Diego when the van overheats. That set us back a little bit, but we made it to the SDSU campus eventually for the show. It was at this place called the Che Cafe, right on the school campus. It’s a little non-profit place that some vegan students run, and they cook food for all of the bands and the kids who go to the shows, which was great. Hot vegan food. Yum.

Some shitty local band played, along with a pretty good local band and some good touring bands. Bafabegiya and Both Blind were definitely the highlights though.

So what did I learn from this 2-day musical journey? If my band tours, we’re playing at the Che Cafe. Vans are unreliable. Touring is amazing. Bafabegiya and Both Blind are fucking rad as hell. Drink lots of water when on the road.
