If I receive another broken CD…
I guess marking a package as “media mail” means nothing to the post office and mailmen/women. I receive hundreds of CDs every year for review, and it doesn’t happen too often, but every once in a while, I get a CD that is either cracked in half or completely shattered. Now I thought that the labels/PR folks paying extra to send CDs as media mail would ensure that the discs would come to my mailbox safely, but that doesn’t always happen.
For instance, just the other day I was going to give the new Genghis Tron CD a few listens and review it (I have heard a few songs off that record, and they fucking rule), and I took the CD, artwork, and press sheet out of the clear slip they were in, and I found that the fucking CD was broken. In this case, the PR person (Maria at Blue Ghost Publicity, who does a fabulous job in public relations) who sent me this disc was very kind and is going to send me another copy. Although, there are times when this happens and I contact the PR person in charge of the record about getting a new copy, and they tell me that all of the promotional copies have been sent out. And then there are flakes who claim they will send a new copy out but just never do.
I realize this is just me babbling on about stuff no one cares about, but it pisses me off. Especially when it’s a record I’m dying to hear.
