Who names a band “I Farm”?

I Farm - So My Kids Won't Have ToAnd more importantly, who names an album I Farm “So My Kids Won’t Have To”? As soon as I saw this album I thought it was a complete joke. Specifically the artwork. It looks like something someone made in Photoshop just because they had a few minutes to kill. Buildings and clouds in cartoon form? I’m confused at this point.

Then I read a little about I Farm. “So My Kids Won’t Have To” is a Creep Records re-release of the band’s debut album with new artwork. The band is currently signed to Go-Kart Records and just released a record entitled “IV”.

So then I listen to the album and I’m blown away. I was expecting some really corny, bland punk, but instead was pummelled by blistering screams/shouts and really fast, gritty guitars. Musically, think old school hardcore meets chaotic, scream-filled punk rock.

I Farm sure as hell don’t seem to be afraid to try something new. Their sound is one of a kind, that’s for sure. The music is heavy, then it’s not, then it is…

Lyrically, I don’t really know what to say about this band. Whoever in the band writes the lyrics is really, really creative. Actually, creative may not even be the right word. The lyrics are politically influenced, but they’re so metaphorically twisted that it’s hard to tell what issues they’re talking about half the time. It still doesn’t kill this album. The music is too good for something like that to ruin it.
