Greek music still baffles me
This Greek record label called Run Devil Run has sent me stuff before. Strange CDs in really oddly-sized digi-packs that won’t fit in any normal CD case holder. Not that I’m familiar with at least. Anyway, the previous records this label has sent me have all been really different. To be blunt, I didn’t enjoy any of the records, so when I got this new CD here from Run Devil Run by Infidelity, entitled “Viewer From A Black Star”, I was expecting crap - in the form of a compact disc.
Now here’s the cliche “I was proven wrong” part. Infidelity are pretty darn good at what they do. The fucking band consists of 7 members, so with all of those people, something good has to come out of this. The band plays a strange, space-like sound, combining a lot of dark, 80’s new wave with a tad bit of garage rock (just a tad). The songs are really bassy, the vocals are mellow, and the lyrics are twisted and dark.
This surprised me quite a bit. I don’t think I’ll listen to this ever again because it’s nothing to drool over, but it’s pretty darn good compared to its label’s other releases.
